 🎉 What a week!!

That feeling when there are five events happening at the same time… and each and every one of them sounds super interesting… and there are people at each one you want to connect with… and this time, because it’s in London, also juggling pre-existing work and life commitments. Agh! 🤹🏻

This is where what I learnt at past UN conferences, COPs and climate weeks comes in handy.

😌 Take a breath - and accept that you will not be able to be in all the places you’d like to be in.

📋 Prioritise - choose fewer things, and do them well. ✨

🤝🏻 Savour - when else will all of these people be in the same city at the same time!

We have particularly enjoyed being at the live recording of the Outrage + Optimism podcast, seeing Tom Rivett-Carnac, Paul Dickson, Hein Schumacher - and many others - in action. We’ve loved hearing the many topics being discussed - although we do feel that the ‘people’ side of things has at times been missing. And the discussions have reinforced our belief that we need to focus on elevating positive and future-focused company practice for others to learn from, we need to up our game on telling meaningful stories that connect to audiences, and we need to hold governments to account. 🌎

A number of you know how passionate I am about decision-making that brings in the perspectives and voices of future generations. So I’m thrilled to see this topic gain traction. With elections, comes new momentum and energy. Sign here if you’d like to call on the next UK Prime Minister to introduce a Future Generations Act within the first 100 days of a new Government. (By the way, this campaign is coordinated by a company, Ella’s Kitchen) 🗳️

And some of you will have seen the open letter published by a group of cross-party MEPs calling for the creation of an EU Commissioner for Future Generations. Even more important since the recent EP elections and the publication of the EU’s direction and goals for 2024-2029 in which a commitment to a just and fair climate transition is still referenced, but with the explicit aim of “staying competitive globally and increasing [the EU’s] energy sovereignty.” 🇪🇺

OK, it’s late on a Friday, and it’s my birthday! 🎂

See you next week, Anna ✨
