It’s a party! 🥳
I’m not talking about my birthday. I’m not talking about 4th July. I’m not talking about election day (although being half French-English spending a lot of my adult life in the U.S, you’ll know that not every election day is a party).
I’m talking about the official timestamp on the EU’s Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD), by virtue of its publication in the Official Journal of the EU. 📕
From now on, we can count down 20 days… and the law is in force. ⏱
Companies: 2027 is the year. 🙌
As we’ve discussed at length, it actually does not matter if you are subject to the law ‘legally’ or not. You will be - one way or another.
Your business partners will start to ask you for this, your investors will start to ask you for this, your stakeholders will start to ask you for this - if they are not already. And what happens in the EU does not stay in the EU: expect a global ripple…🌎
Conducting meaningful environmental and human rights due diligence is the standard for business - and let’s recall that the EU CSDDD delves into the inter-connections between human rights and environment, and has a 1.5C-aligned transition plan in mind for companies.

We have been running a lot of sessions over the past few months on how investors, companies and civil society organisations can start to use and implement the EU CSDDD already. Some of these have been run through our advisory arm, and some through our non-for-profit arm, depending on the audience.
Moving forward, we want to provide as much content as possible through our non-for-profit arm because - just as the EU CSDDD seeks to level the playing field - we see a critical role for advisors to level the playing field in the information placed in the public domain so that we can go faster and further together ⏩
