🚀 Resilience through collaboration… and outsmarting the blockers!
That was THE theme of our Be Human Rights Confident Collective this Thursday.
We shared how 2026 is the year where we now clearly see what we’re up against. And we’re ready to rise to it.
Not necessarily in the way we imagined. But we will rise to it. ⚡
One human rights practitioner in a bank described it perfectly.
She said it felt like walking forward, only for someone to grab her leg and pull her down. She gets back up, then someone grabs the other leg, and she falls down again.
Those hands are the blockers: internal resistance, short-termist systems, bad politics, short-sighted politicians, power-hungry Presidents (you know, maybe one in particular right now).
As a group, we landed on the fact that – maybe – instead of constantly trying to stand back up, we need to move differently.
We perform a pivot.
Maybe we crawl instead – ninja style.
Maybe we rolly-polly to the side, and then get back up that way. 🤸♀️
It’s more fun. It’s unexpected. It catches the blockers off guard. And gets us to where we need to be faster.

I think about it every time I watch my twins start at one end of the carpet and, in the blink of an eye, end up at the other, through a series of leg shuffles, rolls and determined little wriggles. 👶👶
I see 2026 as THE year for just transition in companies.
Not because we are starting to understand what it really means.
Not because we know it’s better for people.
And not even because the EU is starting to look to regulate it (see my latest newsletter for more on this)
But because - quite simply - just transition has become a strategic imperative for business.
Any company today that isn’t looking seriously at how it is transitioning – and the impacts that transition is having and will have on workers, communities, and consumers – is out of touch with the world around them.
Just transition now captures what it means for companies to be strategically strong, relevant, and present – today and into the future.
And we will advance through smart, targeted and rights-based collaboration.
