Are you ready for another season? 😧
Although this ‘series’ is about the EUDR, it will rapidly become about EU business and human rights laws in general. If you’re not sure what I’m talking about, I think your Linkedin feed will help you! See here for a tip.
And in parallel, we have the climate finance deadlock happening in Baku, with a possibility that COP29 ends without a formal agreement. 😫
On the table, the reference to a transition away from fossil fuels, which governments are on the hook for international climate finance, whether funding is to come primarily from governments or other sources, and how the money should be allocated.
We are not quibbling over pennies here. The Independent High-Level Group on Climate Finance has said that developing countries (excluding China) would require $1 trillion a year in external climate finance by 2030, and $1.3 trillion by 2035.
It’s in times like these that I’m so so grateful for our business and human rights community. I feel that we’ve never been so connected, so committed and so strong. So it’s fantastic that next week we all get to see each other!
What a party it will be - so many topics to discuss, so many brainstorms to have, and so many Serpentine coffees to be shared. I can’t wait to see you there 🎉
And for a fun pic, guess where we were yesterday? Embracing imperfection and celebrating flaws as symbols of growth and resilience!
Yes, the Human Level team came together for a holiday celebration where we ate Japanese food and tried our hand at the 600-year-old craft of Kintsugi.
It’s incredible how a bit of glue, a touch of gold and a lot of patience can bring broken ceramics back to life, even more beautiful than before. And it’s also incredible how good it is to come together as a team to just savour life – including Maddie and Malin from our NY and European offices!
And join us at our Collective next Friday 1 pm UK where we’ll de-brief on the craziness.
