On International Women’s Day, I think about all of the women I’ve met on my travels around the world. ❤️
The women who work night shifts day-in day-out and who only see their children twice a year. The women who are forced to take pregnancy tests to make sure they “deserve a job.” The women who pick agricultural commodities with infants strapped to their backs. The women who can’t afford day care with the low wages they are paid. The women who don't feel they can take a toilet break when their period starts. The women who risk their jobs, and sometimes more, to stand up for equality with their male counter-parts.
The strength, determination, love and wisdom of the many women I’ve met who work in global supply chains blows me away. ✨ These women who carry the world on their shoulders - and yet continue anyway. Because they have no choice other than to move forward.
Every single trip I do - and right now I’m in India - confirms my conviction that:
Today is a day to celebrate women.
And every day is a day to stand up for women’s rights. 👨🏼🚒 👩🏼🚀 👩🏼🌾 🤰🏼 👩👧👧
